I guess to some its not a big deal, and that doesn’t really matter, today I am graduating from the New York School of Interior Design! I still can’t get over how 2 years just flew by. It was a great experience and one I’ll always remember. I just want to thank every single person who encouraged and supported me throughout this journey, which still to this day is a journey! *trodding*
My friends who from the get go came on board to offer moral support, Teneille Doyle, Janelle Headley and Sueann Tannis, who let me know that she did it and so could I, and took out her degree to show me :)… and Hal who encouraged me to pursue my dream.
Oh dear, there i go listing names now I must try to remember all! Anyway EVERYONE who came to my fundraisers and worked at them, 80s babies, Purpose by Design: an inspirational dinner, Muffins & Music, all my artistic friends who lent me their talents! Thanks so much :)
Everyone who gave clothes to sell, who bought clothes from me, who got a pedi lol even though I’m not a professional, all who bought a suckabubby even though you really don’t eat that stuff! If you let me wash your car, even tho you could still see the wax when it was over :S I thank all of you for putting up with me as I tried relentlessly to pay my way through school!
Thanks to the companies who gave me stints and support Preconco Ltd., Cave Shepherd, Designer Decor, SJPP, Caring Attentive Nanny Service, Rentokil Initial, Dynamic Colour Inc. This must be a graduation speech lol! and to my church family at the Better life Assembly for supporting my mission.
I have great friends I really do, and family! My sisters, bro-in law and parents and aunts and granny who always made sure I had money. I lacked for nothing, sure there were some books I didn’t buy, but hey I did pretty good!
Thank you Headleys, Millers.. Erica, Randy Brathwaite, Aunty Ethel, Pop and my wonderful cousins who took care of me :)
One hurdle was over and many more will come I am sure, but with God’s help and a great support system I know I’ll be just fine. I believe I’m doing what I’m suppose to do. I don’t always feel like the most innovative person on earth, but experience is the best teacher. I love what I do. It fits me so well. Francilia Interiors will continue to grow!
I hope we all continue to encourage each other, everyone has a gift. I love to see people using their gift and enjoying it. Don’t envy a person’s ability, celebrate it! Support your own, buy local, if you can’t buy, barter, let us learn to foster the links that will keep our businesses alive!
So today as I toss my cap, I toss it at you, do what you thought you couldn’t. And thank you all soo very much!
Blessings
Dee
